Connecting a domain

Every site gets a free address such as yourname.pageflow.app. On a paid plan you can also use a domain you own, like mobiledger.com, with a free SSL certificate.

1. Add the domain

Go to Domains → Connect domain, type your domain and choose the website. If you enter example.com we also set up www.example.com (and the other way round), and redirect one to the other.

2. Add the DNS records

Sign in where you bought the domain (your registrar) and open its DNS settings. Add the records shown in the wizard; they look like this:

Type Name Value
A @ the IP address shown in the wizard
CNAME www cname.pageflow.app
TXT _pf-verify pf-verify=… (your personal code)
  • A points your main domain at us. CNAME points www (or a subdomain like shop) at us. TXT proves the domain is yours.
  • Remove any other A or AAAA record for the same name, or visitors may reach your old site.
  • Use the Copy buttons: one wrong character stops verification.

3. Verify

Choose Verify DNS. Most changes are seen within minutes, but DNS can take up to 48 hours. You can close the wizard (I'll do this later): we keep checking and email you when the domain connects.

When it connects we issue an SSL certificate automatically. The SSL column shows Active once your site is served over HTTPS.

4. Publish to the domain

In the publish dialog, tick the domain and publish. Make it Primary on the Domains page to send visitors from your other addresses to it.

Registrar guides

Cloudflare

DNS → Records → Add record. Set the proxy status to DNS only (grey cloud) for the A and CNAME records while verifying.

Namecheap

Domain List → Manage → Advanced DNS → Add new record. Use @ for the main domain.

GoDaddy

My Products → your domain → DNS → Add. GoDaddy may add a "Parked" A record: delete it.

Google Domains / Squarespace

Domains → your domain → DNS → Custom records → Manage custom records.

Hostinger

Domains → your domain → DNS / Nameservers → Manage DNS records.

Uganda registrars

For .ug domains (for example through the Uganda registry or a local host such as Uganda Server), log in to your registrar's client area and open DNS management or Zone editor for the domain. If you can't edit DNS yourself, send your registrar's support the three records from the wizard and ask them to add them. Some local registrars take a working day to apply changes.

Troubleshooting

  • Still waiting after an hour: check the record names. Some registrars add the domain for you, so enter _pf-verify, not _pf-verify.example.com.
  • Error: "points elsewhere": another A record or a proxy is in the way. Remove old records, or turn the Cloudflare proxy off.
  • SSL pending: certificates are issued once DNS points at us; this usually takes a few minutes after the domain connects.
